Chapter 1: Meeting the gurus
I connected with a handful of beauty related content creators on Instagram and conducted in-depth interviews with each of them.
In our interviews many of them mentioned that they feel more connected to their smaller audiences.
Chapter 2: Putting it together
After my conversations with these creators I discovered three insights.
1. With a smaller audience comes a greater sense of responsibility
2. When you are passionate about something you are more likely to call out its injustices.
3. People want to support others who share their own passion.
Chapter 3: Setting a new standard
A lot of my conversations centered around the term "influencer" and how it has become synonymous with negativity. The beauty gurus and I ended up brainstorming together and established a much more positive and updated term that fit with the values that they all hold. Creator.
